BASF SE is headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and takes the central role as the largest operating company in the BASF Group. Directly or indirectly, it holds the shares in the companies that belong to the BASF Group. The majority of BASF Group companies cover a broad spectrum of our business. Some concentrate on specific business areas, such as BASF’s subsidiary Wintershall. In the BASF Group Consolidated Financial Statements, 318 companies including BASF SE are fully consolidated. We consolidate 21 joint ventures with one or more partners on a proportional basis. We also include 14 companies using the equity method.
